Musica From Africa

Is your itunes aching for some new music??

There's only so. many. times. that Katy Perry and Lady Gaga can come up on a one's playlist, right??

Well look no further, cause I have a handful of bad ass South African singles to spruce up your summer library!

Here are three South African musicians and three international hits that are super popular here right now.

Download them asap and enjoy.

That's an order :)

First up, the natives:

1. Goldfish - Get Better Living

2. Crazy White Boy - Love You Better

3. Prime Circle - She Always Gets What She Wants

---------------------------------------

1.  Yolanda Be Cool - We No Speak Americano

This song has been INSANELY popular since I've been here in SA. Seriously. I can't go out in public without hearing this at least once on the radio... or in the supermarket... or whilst mall shopping... I hear it in my sleep.

*Incidentally, if you enjoy this song, do check out this video. It is mesmerizing:

2. Adrian Lux - Teenage Crim

3. Stromae - Alors On Danse

---------
P.S
Did you know that country music doesn't exist here? The odd person may recognize a pop/country song a-la Taylor Swift but outside of that, it simply isn't marketed in SA at all.

Funnily enough -- I really, really miss it! It just doesn't seem right to have gone through summer without belting out at least one Kenny Chesney song in the car.

Taking its place is house music. South Africans loooove their house. Give them a solid beat and repetitive chorus and you've got a winner!haha

Hope you enjoy these South African bands/songs! Let me know which one you like best!

You forgot about the Parlotones. Come on Marie!

I considered putting the Parlotones in my top three. But personally, I find them pretty emo/try-hards. I think the three that I posted are just all around better artists.
